Memphis Kings
John Henricksen-(John the Pianoman)
Keys/ backup vocals-Band leader/Music Director
A native of northern California, born and raised in Windsor Ca. At age 14 while attending speech therapy to correct a stuttering problem, the speech therapist suggested taking up an instrument. Will this help cure my stuttering? No, said the therapist, but it will help you get the girls! Thus started a lifelong passion for music, (and girls!). John played in local bands in the Sonoma county area then at age 18 moved to Arizona to pursue music as a full time career. It took less than a year to figure out traveling in bands and recording other peoples music did not pay so well, so back to California for a REAL job! While working and earning a living, music continued to play a big part in John’s life. John is a “self taught” pianist. Learning “rag time” piano at an early age inspired him to move on and study with the likes of Grant Johnson, Doc Collins (Collins & Levine Band) and Grammy-winning pianist Will Barrow. Early influences have been, and continue to be people like Pine Top Perkins, Professor Long Hair, Dr John, Elton John, Bill Payne, David Lanz, David Benoit, Vince Guaraldi just to name a few. In 1999, John joined Rick Lenzi and the Memphis Kings band. “I remember asking what kind of music will we be playing, and the response was this is an Elvis tribute band”. “I wanted to run.. I was not an Elvis fan, but then the music started, and I saw Rick perform, and I was excited”. “I literally went from “ I want to get out of here” to “ I hope they hire me” in a matter of minutes!” “Rick Lenzi is a GREAT performer / artist and this band is awesome. Some of the finest players I have ever played with. I am very proud to be an original member of the Memphis Kings, and very excited to be back together and playing again!”

He is a native son of the Bay Area, born in Hayward, California and growing up in Santa Rosa, fifty miles north or San Francisco. Gerry Mello was passionate about music from an early age and was finally able to save up enough money to buy his first bass guitar at the age of 15. Playing in "garage" bands throughout his youth, it was until Gerry attended Santa Rosa Junior College, that he began his formal music training in 1992. Gerry Mello played in several groups for the next few years. These bands hit almost every musical genre, from blues, to jazz, rock, and fusion. Gerry joined the Memphis Kings in the summer of 2000; the first time he had ever been apart of a tribute act. He has been the band's bass player since it's inception, and will continue to be as long as he can lift his bass.
John Bocci- (Johnny Atomic)
Drums/ backup vocals
A Bay Area native, Johnny went from children’s storybook recordings to listening to records by The Monkees, Elvis and The Beatles that he found lying around the house. His drumming began when he started banging on a basketball with giant pencils in time to these records. His first musical love was rock, but his drumming experiences have been diverse. He is well-versed in many styles – symphonic, marching corps, musical theater, and most recently, rockabilly and swing. Johnny is the orginal member of the Memphis Kings tribute band John is the a driving force in the band!!!
SUGAR AND SPICE-Back Singers
Tracie Lynn Bocci: Born and raised in the SF bay area, Traci has her older sisters to thank for her early exposure to a wide array of rock n' roll, from The Beatles to Led Zeppelin to KISS. One of the earliest artifacts of Traci's musical career is a cassette recording of her belting out a passionate a cappella rendition of Don McLean's epic "American Pie" at the tender age of 4. That year, she also began learning piano, and her subsequent musical training has included clarinet and alto sax (she admits to high school marching band, although she insists she never actually attended band camp), various choirs, musical theater, and bands. She performed for the late Pope John Paul II; she sings back in a Elvis Presley Tribute Band called the Memphis Kings!!
Jennifer Albin Schroth:
was born with the love of singing. At the age of 12 her mom made her make the choice between continuing horse back riding lessons or take singing lessons, and she chose the latter. Her 10 years of vocal studies include several years with Broadway veteran, Thelma Ahner of Santa Rosa and five years with bay area vocal coach Judy Davis of Oakland and many vocal workshops. Jennifer has been involved with many local theater companies and has been on stage and behind the scenes for years. Many years of Karaoke gave her the confidence to perform on stage where she has sung with local band "Vaguely Familiar" and with "The Memphis Kings". Jennifer hopes to always sing and inspire others to as well.
